Cover to Your Church_ As I mentioned yesterday the new book, Your Church Is Too Small, will be delivered next Friday. If you have ordered a copy it should arrive within two or three weeks as it takes some time for the publisher to ship to the supplier and then for the supplier to get the book out to those who have pre-ordered it.

If you live in Chicago I invite your to attend the book luncheon on Wednesday, March 17, at 11:45 a.m. at the Holiday Inn in Carol Stream. It is best that you register for this event at www.act3online.com but if you simply show up you should be able to join us for lunch. The cost is $20, almost all of which is for the lunch itself. I will make a brief presentation about how and why I wrote the book and then we will have a discussion and a time to pray for the book at the end.

On March 22 we will have a book launch party at the Billy Graham Center on the Wheaton College campus, in the Wilson Suite on the 4th floor. Copies of the book will be sold by the Wheaton College bookstore at this event (at a discount) and I will be able to autograph them if you would like a signed copy. We begin at 7:30 p.m. and end by 9:00 p.m. We will engage in a forum that includes me and three respondents who have all read the book. A moderator will help us guide the evening. The information about March 22 is also available at the new Website www.yourchurchistoosmall.com. There is no charge for this event but we ask that you register on the Website if you plan to come. Space is somewhat limited.

The foreword to this book was written by my dear friend, J. I. Packer. This  entire foreword is available online at www.yourchurchistoosmall.com. I have excerpted a part of this foreword to give you some idea of how Dr. Packer feels about this book. Quite obviously I am deeply honored to have a very special friend, and a person who just happens to be one of the premier evangelical theologians of our time, write such a wonderful word about my book. Here is a small part of the 550-word Packer foreword:

"In this vision, the primary thing is the [missional-ecumenism] crystallized for us by our Lord Jesus Christ in his teaching and prayer and illustrated in a normative way by the Acts narrative and much of the reasoning of the apostolic letters. . . . The vision Armstrong offers . . . which Jesus prayed that the world might see, is neither unanimity nor uniformity nor union (as he neatly puts it) but loving cooperation in life and mission…I hope this book will not be ignored but will have the influence it deserves. Aspects of North America’s future—aspects, indeed, of the honor and glory of Christ in this century—may well depend on whether or not it does." J. I. Packer, Advent 2009.
