Somehow I got it into my head, perhaps in my early twenties, that God only used those people who "got it together." Now do not misunderstand me. I am not promoting lawlessness at all. I think bad Christian living does considerable harm to the mission of the Church. But the fact is God uses messed up and weak people to do his work. Someone sent me a YouTube clip that says this well. This is not only pretty clever but quite edifying.
I had a long and hard day. I spent it writing in preparation for my speaking the next few days in Texas for the Anglican Mission in America and Trinity Presbyterian Church in Plano. It was one of those days when a lot went wrong. I felt quite unready to "be used" in the coming days. This video lifted my spirits considerably. Enjoy!

Thanks for the reminder, John. I need to hear that more often than I do.
You’re not going to be near Houston during your Texas tour, are you?
Thanks for the post John! It’s a good reminder that God can still use me too.
God bless!
The video actually quite understates things.
David was a muderer and a rapist and planned both ahead of time. That is a far cry from your typical wrong place, wrong time moment of weakness affair.
It seems that while many are trying to fight the Jesus is just fire insurance type of teaching that is all too prvelant, that they are holding people to a different standard than the scritures themselves.
David needed discipline (and God gave it), but many churches would have either written him off as false convert or just patted him on the back and said it was really not really a big deal.
