The Associated Press reported today that Jerry Falwell believes that God will preserve a Republican majority in the Congress. I wonder who told him? I am sure of only one thing—it was not God. Where does he get this stuff? I wonder if the Republicans are grateful that he told the world these new revelations before the November mid-term elections. Nonsense is nonsense regardless of who utters it, including conservative preachers. Maybe it would be better to say, "especially Christian preachers." I am grateful for more and more Christians who are exercised to engage in public affairs but I am struck by the lack of wisdom that often reigns on the religious left and the religious right.

Wisdom obviously wasn’t with him for his comments about Senator Clinton either.

Or his mentally retarded support of the notion that Bill Clinton led cocaine trafficking in and out of Arkansas, and murdered 15 people.
I am down on Falwell, but I think the whole Christian right has been for years. it is the leftist media that keeps him and Pat around – not the good guys.
    My two cents,

I think it is more their own empires that keep them around more than either left or right media. Pat has a contract that says that he has to be on TV forever, no matter what he says and Falwell has a church and university who are not going to kick him out no matter what he does. I think most people on both right and left would be glad if they both retired and left public life, but neither one will so we are stuck with the stupid comments.
